AVATS online form — create your Short Stay (C) application at visas.inis.gov.ie; select Single or Multiple and the correct reason (for example Visit Tourist).
Pay or claim fee exemption on AVATS where applicable (Single €60 / Multiple €100 / Transit €25 on Embassy guidance; exemptions listed on ireland.ie).
VFS Global appointment — residents of England, Scotland or Wales submit at a VFS centre by appointment (ireland.ie). Northern Ireland / Channel Islands / Isle of Man follow Embassy instructions (not the same VFS path).
Prove UK residence — VFS Ireland UK guidance asks for a verified immigration-status share code showing permission covering at least 3 months after return from Ireland.
Processing — London Visa Office publishes target times (visit often listed at 45 days for complete files); the clock typically starts when the file reaches the Consular Section after VFS.

BIVS note: Irish Immigration states BIVS-endorsed visas are only available to Chinese nationals living in China and Indian nationals living in India. UK-resident applicants should not assume a BIVS endorsement.
